Universal

Today's news story about a Burmese blogger, Nay Phone Latt getting a 20 year jail sentence is another reminder that we must not take for granted the rights we enjoy.

Exactly one month before [part of] the world will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the UN General Assembly on 10 December, 1948.

Looking for Nay Phone Latt's blog [which I can't find], I ran into the webpage of a Committee to Protect Bloggers.

Talking of privileges, today -- 90th anniversary of the end of World War I -- also has a bright side for me: unlike my Grand Parents I haven't had to fight or flee two wars. [So far, at least]
