Fishy tomato

I'm not sure what is the origin of this expression, but when they want to say something is fishy, Spanish people say "Hay tomate", There's tomato...

I'm spending this week-end with Domingo Jiménez Beltrán and Family in Southern Spain in the Region of Murcia, which has been nicknamed the pantry of Europe since intensive vegetable agriculture took off in the area two or three decades ago.

On the photo, taken on the foothills of the Sierra de Almenara, the red patches at which Domingo points his finger are not poppy fields, but tons of tomatos dumped in the fields in order to sustain the market.

¡Hay tomate!
