I've just read Robert Borosage's essay Prisoners of War, which starts with the description of a gross paradox: on 28 September, one day before they revolted against the 700 Billion Dollar Wall Street bail-out, the US Congress passed (unaninously in the Senate) a 700 Billion annual budget for the Pentagon in 2009.
