Ready for take off?
In the story he's just published on BBC Online about the International Whaling Commission meeting which has just ended, Richard Black quotes me as saying that "the plane is now on the runway; it's up to everyone to decide whether or not they want to climb on board."
Right. Another analogy I've also used today about the modest outcome of the three day meeting we just had is: the IWC met in Heathrow to see if it could find a new course, but it is early to say whether this endeavour will take altitude, or whether it will result in an aborted take off.
We can't tell until the annual IWC meeting in Santiago de Chile in June, whether there will be an Heathrow track.
