WWF is distributing "Fish Voice" at tomorrow's EU Fisheries Council in Brussels.
Close the deep is one of their key messages.
Compare the scientific advice of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) with the fish quotas proposed by the European Commission.
"In October, ICES advised zero-catch for deepwater sharks in 2006, but the European Commission has not proposed any measure to start the recovery of these stocks. While Ministers are expected to halt deepwater gillnet fishery in the North East Atlantic, an immediate end to all deep-sea fisheries is needed to halt further stock depletion", says WWF.
